Bankruptcy judge will consider dueling plans to determine future of troubled amusement park

ERIE, Pennsylvania — A federal bankruptcy judge in northwest Pennsylvania will soon consider dueling plans to determine the future of a troubled amusement park.

Yet there are objections to both blueprints for Conneaut (kaw-nee-AWT') Lake Park, according to the Erie Times-News (http://bit.ly/1YxUJwY).

Trustees of the 123-year-old park plan to continue operating the facility, sell non-essential property and repay debts over a 20-year period.

But local governments and schools want to sell the park and its assets to recoup more than $1 million in delinquent property taxes.

The state and Conneaut Lake Joint Municipal Authority have called both plans flawed or lacking critical information.

The nonprofit board that runs Conneaut Lake Park filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last year.

Judge Jeffery A. Deller will hear arguments Monday in Erie.
