LAS CRUCES, New Mexico — Las Cruces police say a 34-year-old shooting victim remains in critical condition as authorities say a 17-year-old is a suspect in the case.
Police say Pete Limon was hit in the abdomen by a blast from a shotgun that was later found near the location of the Thursday evening shooting.
Detectives learned that Limon and a neighbor were involved in an altercation observed by the 17-year-old, who was identified by police as Gustavo Angel Alvarado.
According to police, Limon then was shot during a confrontation after he and Alvarado exchanged words.
Alvarado is described as Hispanic, approximately 5-foot-6 in height and 150 pounds in weight. Police said he has brown hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a plaid shirt.
