ATHENS, Greece — Defending champion Olympiakos had little difficulty beating Panionios 3-0 on the opening day of the Greek league Sunday.

Costas Fortounis opened the scoring in the 25th minute when he chested down Jimmy Durmaz's cross and volleyed home.

Andreas Bouchalakis made it 2-0 in the 72nd with a long-range drive which deflected off a Panionios defender and Mathieu Dossevi added the third with a shot from outside the area in injury time, three minutes after coming on as a substitute.

Also, newly promoted AEK beat Platanias 3-0, Atromitos defeated Levadiakos 1-0, Asteras won 2-0 at Panthrakikos, Iraklis beat host Kalloni 1-0, PAOK stumbled to a scoreless home draw against Xanthi and Giannena drew 1-1 at Veria.

Last season's runner-up Panathinaikos travels to Panetolikos Monday.
