FORT THOMPSON, South Dakota — For a second year, the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe and the South Dakota Highway Patrol will work together to enforce laws during the tribe's annual pow-wow.
Highway Patrol troopers will assist tribal police during the pow-wow this weekend. The gathering starts Friday and runs through Sunday.
Troopers will bring drug-detection dogs to the pow-wow.
Chairwoman Roxanne Sazu says the tribe welcomes the Patrol's help in ensuring that everyone has a safe experience at the celebration.
Troopers who will be involved in the event will be sworn in on Thursday after a training and orientation program.
The Patrol last year helped tribal officials enforce drug laws and protect public safety during the pow-wow.
