KIMBALL TOWNSHIP, Michigan — Authorities say a 64-year-old man was injured when the ultralight airplane he was flying went down in St. Clair County.
The sheriff's department says the man took off Thursday evening from a private air strip. Shortly after he left the ground, a witness saw the plane dip once and then nose-dive.
The plane landed wing first, flipped and ended upright. The crash happened in Kimball Township, about 50 miles northeast of Detroit.
The pilot was the only person on the plane. He was taken to a hospital for treatment. The Federal Aviation Administration plans an investigation.
