ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico — Authorities say a man is accused of fatally stabbing his father and critically wounding his mother at the couple's Albuquerque home.

Albuquerque police say 24-year-old James Finch is hospitalized with possibly self-inflicted injuries from Monday's attack and will be arrested after he's discharged.

Police received a call from a woman screaming for help around 3:15 a.m. and arrested a man trying to flee the scene.

Inside the home, police say they found 60-year-old David Finch dead and 66-year-old Kathy Finch wounded.

She is hospitalized in critical condition.

Police say James Finch has a history of violence against his parents, who had an active restraining order against him.

They say he was released from jail on Aug. 20 and his parents recently made security updates to their home to protect themselves.
