BELLEVILLE, Illinois — An East St. Louis man is jailed on $500,000 bond after being accused in connection with a shooting death.

The Belleville News-Democrat reports that 43-year-old Norman Travis was charged Saturday with first-degree murder.

Travis surrendered the previous day after being publicly identified as a person of interest in the Jan. 6 shooting death of 46-year-old Stephan Mosley, also of East St. Louis.

Police say Travis and Mosley had known each other for years.

A possible motive for the shooting has not been disclosed.

Online court records don't show whether Travis has an attorney. He has an unlisted home telephone number.
