SCOTTSDALE, Arizona — Authorities say a fugitive has been wounded in a shooting involving Scottsdale police outside a grocery store.

Scottsdale police say the shooting occurred around 1 p.m. Thursday in a Safeway parking lot.

Undercover detectives were trailing the suspect and surrounded him in his vehicle.

Authorities say the fugitive wasn't obeying any commands to surrender peacefully and was shot as he tried to drive away, which his vehicle crashing into other cars in the parking lot.

Paramedics responded to the scene and transported a man to a trauma center.

The man's name wasn't immediately released, but police say he's in stable condition.

Authorities say he was wanted in connection with a credit card fraud ring and had been under surveillance for days.

Police say no officers were injured in the incident.
