FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas — A former University of Arkansas at Fort Smith professor has been sentenced to five years in federal prison after pleading guilty to receiving child pornography.

The Southwest Times Record reports (http://bit.ly/Zsqeif ) 44-year-old Travis Brown was sentenced by a federal judge on Tuesday. He pleaded guilty to the charge in April after taking a deal with prosecutors. Three other charges of receiving child pornography and one charge of possessing child pornography were dropped in the deal.

Arkansas State Police say Brown downloaded the pornography in October 2013. Brown was an assistant professor of graphic design at UAFS before he was fired in February.
