Iowa authorities release name of man wounded by deputy after driving stolen SUV into a police cruiser

MUSCATINE, Iowa — Iowa authorities have identified the 41-year-old man who was wounded during a confrontation with police.

The state Division of Criminal Investigation says Timothy Seefeldt is expected to recover from a gunshot wound in his upper body.

The incident began after a large SUV was stolen from a Muscatine restaurant parking lot.

When a Muscatine County Sheriff's deputy and local police officer stopped the stolen vehicle, the driver tried to speed away and hit several cars, including a police cruiser.

The deputy opened fire on Seefeldt who was arrested and taken to a hospital.
