Motorcyclist rider dies, passenger hurt after collision with deer in Livingston County

MARION TOWNSHIP, Michigan — Authorities say a motorcycle rider has died and his passenger was injured after colliding with a deer in Livingston County.

The Livingston Daily Press & Argus of Howell and WHMI-FM report 62-year-old Clark Tyler Higdon of Howell was riding Wednesday night in Marion Township when the deer darted into the roadway. Higdon and a 55-year-old woman were thrown from the motorcycle.

Sheriff Bob Bezotte says Higdon was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He says the passenger was treated for serious injuries.

The crash is under investigation and the sheriff's department is warning people to be cautious about deer while on the road. Marion Township is located about 45 miles northwest of Detroit.
