LEXINGTON, Mississippi — An inmate who was found unresponsive in his jail cell in Holmes County has died.

Sheriff Willie March tells The Clarion-Ledger (http://on.thec-l.com/1mZZ4vA ) that Reginald "Reggie" Jones did not respond during headcount Wednesday morning. He says when someone checked on him, he was laying in his cell unresponsive.

March says Jones was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he died.

He says the coroner checked for signs of trauma but found none. Officials are awaiting results of an autopsy and toxicology tests for more information.

Jones was serving four years on a sexual battery count from Monroe County. He turned 33 on Wednesday, the day he died.
