TOWSON, Maryland — A former Baltimore County police cadet has pleaded guilty to stealing drugs from the department's evidence room.

Nicholas Ishmael of Parkville pleaded guilty Wednesday to felony theft and possession with intent to distribute Oxycodone.

Ishmael was arrested on June 24 after an investigation linked him to Oxycodone that went missing from the evidence room. He was arrested carrying $40,000 in cash evidence in a backpack.

Sentencing is set for April 1. Prosecutors say they will ask for a 10-year sentence.
