DEER PARK, New York — Authorities say a woman has died in an early morning fire at a Long Island home.

Suffolk County police officers on routine patrol saw smoke coming from the house on Pine Street in Deer Park shortly before 5 a.m. Sunday.

The woman was found on the first floor. She was identified as Eleanor Didea, 81.

Authorities say a preliminary investigation shows an electrical issue started the blaze.
