Man accused of abusing boys he mentored is found dead of apparent suicide

ANOKA, Minnesota — Authorities say a Minnesota man accused of sexually abusing at least a-half dozen boys hundreds of times has committed suicide.

Forty-five-year-old Chad Geyen, of Ramsey, was about to go on trial next week of charges of abusing the children from the 1990s to 2013. The Anoka County attorney's office tells the Star Tribune ( ) Geyen's body was found in a Hennepin County park on Sunday with a shotgun nearby.

Court records show Geyen met at least one of the boys through the Big Brothers organization. Geyen was also a mentor in the Young Eagles program, which involves youngsters interested in aviation.

Four of the six boys are now adults. One of the boys said he met Geyen when he was 5 and that he had been abused more than 100 times.
