GREENSBORO, North Carolina — A woman has been sentenced to life in prison without parole after pleading guilty to killing an Alamance County convenience store clerk last year.

The Times-News of Burlington reported (http://bit.ly/12JA68T) that 31-year-ld Takila Valencia Morris pleaded guilty in court in Greensboro on Monday in the shooting death of 61-year-old Paresh Shah at his store in Gibsonville.

Shah was shot three times as he struggled with a masked robber on July 20, 2013. Police found Shah collapsed outside the door of his store.

Assistant District Attorney Steve Cole said clothes consistent with those the robber was seen wearing on video surveillance were found in Morris' apartment.

Guilford County Superior Court Judge John Craig III said Morris could have faced a possible death sentence for first-degree murder during an armed robbery.
