BINGHAMTON, New York — An upstate New York man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for an attack that left a 22-year-old man dead and his six months pregnant girlfriend hospitalized with serious injuries.

Local media outlets report 22-year-old Julian Talamantez IV of Binghamton was sentenced Friday in Broome County Court, where he pleaded guilty in August to first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.

Talamantez and 26-year-old Nigel Saunders were accused of breaking into a Binghamton home and beating, stabbing, and setting fire to the victims, who were left for dead.

Jordan Dordell was killed and his 19-year-old fiancee injured.

Saunders is awaiting trial on the same charges.
