GLENDALE, Arizona — A 42-year-old Phoenix man has been arrested in the July 8 killing of another man who was fatally shot inside a parked car outside a Glendale convenience store.

Police said Gereimo R. Perez was arrested Tuesday night after investigators traced the license plate of a car seen driving off after 29-year-old Mark McCreary was shot in the head through his car's windshield.

McCreary and a companion had just purchased soft drinks in the store.

Police said McCreary had a prior relationship with a woman who was seen with Perez before he was arrested and who was reportedly owed money by McCreary.

Perez was ordered jailed in lieu of $500,000 bond. He didn't have an attorney during an initial court appearance Wednesday.
