COLUMBUS, Mississippi — A Columbus man has been charged with murder in a fatal shooting at a local nightclub.
Columbus police say 30-year-old Billy Kennedy was denied bond in an initial appearance Friday in municipal court.
Kennedy is charged with murder in the fatal shooting of 32-year-old Timothy Barker.
Police say the shooting occurred during an argument between the two men inside Club Heidi-Ho about 12:20 a.m. Thursday. Police say shots rang out and Barker was struck at least once.
Barker died later at Baptist Golden Triangle Hospital.
Kennedy is being held in Lowndes County jail.
Police Capt. Brent Swan says an investigation is continuing.
