Hickory man pleads guilty to beating wife to death in 2013

NEWTON, North Carolina — A Hickory man has pleaded guilty Monday in the 2013 beating death of his wife.

Multiple media outlets reported that 38-year-old Marvin Antonio Hill pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death of 36-year-old Louver Hill.

Catawba County sheriff's deputies say Marvin Hill initially told them that he pushed his wife, causing her to fall in their home.

Deputies said Hill later told them there had been an argument and they fought and she slipped and hit her head.

Investigators who found Louver Hill said she was dead in a back bedroom of the home. Deputies said both the kitchen and the bedroom showed evidence of a fight.

Medial workers said she had cuts on her arms and bruises on her body.

Marvin Hill will be sentenced later.
