CAMP LEJEUNE, North Carolina — A Camp Lejeune Marine who pleaded guilty in the fatal shooting of a fellow Marine on base has been sentenced to two years in the brig.

Multiple media outlets report Lance Cpl. Brandon Little of Birmingham, Alabama, also on Wednesday was dishonorably discharged, forfeited his pay and was reduced in rank. Under a pre-trial agreement, Little will serve two years confinement instead of the three years originally handed down.

Little pleaded guilty in a general court-martial Tuesday to involuntary manslaughter due to culpable negligence in the shooting death of 21-year-old Lance Cpl. Mark Boterf of Crowley, Texas.

Boterf died last April from a single gunshot wound to the chest. The bullet came from an M4 military rifle as Little and Boterf shared a guard shack at the base's main entrance.
