POMPANO BEACH, Florida — A 3-year-old boy drowned during a family gathering at a home in Pompano Beach.
The Broward Sheriff's Office says an uncle discovered Henrique Amorin in the backyard pool about 5:30 p.m. Sunday. He had last been seen about 30 minutes earlier.
The South Florida Sun Sentinel (http://bit.ly/1FQTqRA ) reports about 10 people, including the child's parents, were at the house on Sunday.
Some family members attempted to revive the boy. Rescue crews took him to a Fort Lauderdale hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Keyla Concepcion says no charges have been issued. An investigation is underway but she says the drowning appears to be a "tragic accident."
