PHOENIX — Authorities have released the name of an armed man who was fatally shot by Phoenix police officers.
Police say 39-year-old Levi Gene Wilson was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead after Monday night's incident.
Officers were called to the scene by Wilson's sister, who called 911 because he had fired a gun in the house.
Police say the woman told officers that her brother was behaving strangely.
When police arrived, they say Wilson refused to leave the house and threatened to shoot anyone who attempted to enter.
After six hours of negotiations, police say Wilson left the house carrying a handgun.
They say he pointed the gun at himself and then at officers, who then shot him.
Police say an investigation into the shooting was continuing Wednesday.
