BENTONVILLE, Arkansas — A 30-year-old Bentonville man has been convicted of kidnapping, raping and killing a 6-year-old girl.

The Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports ( ) that a Benton County Circuit Court jury found Zachary Holly guilty Wednesday of capital murder, kidnapping, rape and residential burglary in the death of Jersey Bridgeman.

Defense attorneys called no witnesses and acknowledged both at the start of the trial and at the end that Holly was responsible for the girl's death.

Prosecutors have said they will ask the jury to impose the death penalty when it deliberates punishment.
