HARRISONBURG, Virginia — A Grottoes woman has enter an Alford plea to charges of trying to hire someone to kill six people.

WHSV-TV (http://bit.ly/1C8ZqRh ) reports that 34-year-old Heather Bergen entered her plea Monday in Rockingham County Circuit Court. Sentencing is set for Aug. 27.

An Alford plea means a defendant doesn't admit guilt but agrees the prosecution has enough evidence to get a conviction.

Berger was charged with solicitation to commit murder and attempting to commit capital murder/murder for hire. She was accused of trying to hire an undercover officer last year to kill her then-husband, his mother and four other people.

Police have said Bergen gave the officer detailed information about the potential victims, including their addresses and vehicle descriptions.
