ILWACO, Washington — A Coast Guard helicopter crew has rescued three people after their 16-foot pleasure boat became disabled and ran aground on a small island near Cape Disappointment on the southwest Washington coast.

The helicopter crew from Astoria, Oregon, took the boaters Thursday to the Coast Guard station at the cape. They were unhurt.

The vessel's owner has contacted a marine salvage company to remove it from the island.
