SANDUSKY, Ohio — The State Highway Patrol says a motorcyclist has suffered serious injuries after her bike was struck in the rear by an SUV in Vermilion Township.

Forty-seven-year-old Renita Foster of North Ridgeville was with several other motorcyclists when she was hit while merging into the left lane of a highway. It happened just after 6 p.m. Sunday.

Authorities say Foster was knocked off her motorcycle and her helmet came off during the crash. She was airlifted to Cleveland Metro Hospital for treatment.

The SUV driver, 29-year-old Amanda McCullough of Lowellville, was not injured.

The accident is being investigated. No citations have been issued.
