Unemployment rate drops from December to January, stands at 5.6 percent

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas — Arkansas' unemployment rate fell by one-tenth of a percentage point from December to January and now stands at 5.6 percent.

The state Department of Workforce Services said Tuesday that the number of civilians in the labor force rose by 9,200 to stand at more than 1.3 million and the number of people employed rose by 9,100 to nearly 1.25 million.

The unemployment rate nationwide stood at 5.7 percent for January.
