FALL RIVER, Massachusetts — Two teens charged with murder in a Fall River slaying last month are being held without bail after pleading not guilty.
The Herald News reports (http://bit.ly/1bVs3LL that 19-year-old Kevin Lara was arraigned in a brief hearing Wednesday. Judge Deborah Dunn said in court Wednesday that Lara has a criminal trial scheduled May 12 in an unrelated case.
A 17-year-old youth was arraigned on Tuesday. Both teens return to court for probable cause hearings June 12.
The two defendants are charged with the March 20 fatal shooting of Anthony Carvalho. He was found in the street with several gunshot wounds and died at a hospital.
Police are still investigating Carvalho's death and say they have arrested four other people in connection with the shooting.
