Jacksonville State uses 4 scores from Jenkins to hold off UT Martin 48-41


MARTIN, Tennessee — Eli Jenkins threw three touchdowns and ran for another to lead Jacksonville St. past Tennessee-Martin 48-41 on Saturday.

Troymaine Pope gave the Gamecocks (3-1, 1-0 Ohio Valley) the lead for good on an 8-yard run to make it 7-3. Jenkins threw 21 yards to Josh Barge to make it 14-3.

After the Skyhawks' Jackson Redditt hit his second field, Pope ran 46 yards to make it 21-6. Jenkins found Barge 9 yards out, giving Jacksonville St. a 28-6 lead.

Jarold Neal found Caylon Weathers 12 yards out to make it 28-13. The Skyhawks (1-2, 0-1) made it 28-20 when Terrious Triplett returned a fumble 22 yards. But Jenkins again found Barge from 17 yards to make it 35-20.

Neal threw three touchdowns in a 4:23 span to cut the lead to 48-41. He threw for 433 yards and four touchdowns.
