Police release name of man killed in motorcycle crash on northern NY road; woman injured


RUTLAND, New York — State police have released the name of the motorcyclist who was killed in a crash on a northern New York road that also left a woman in critical condition.

Troopers said over the weekend that 54-year-old John Rebb of Black River was driving a motorcycle on Route 143 around 6:30 p.m. Friday when he crashed in the Jefferson County town of Rutland, 65 miles north of Syracuse.

A woman riding with Rebb, 50-year-old Joanne Chamberlain of Black River, suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse. She's listed in critical but stable condition.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation by state police.
