BATON ROUGE, Louisiana — New figures show that 186,277 Louisiana residents have enrolled in the federal health insurance marketplace.
The numbers were released Tuesday by the Department of Health and Human Services. Of those enrolled through the federal marketplace, 89 percent — or 165,787 — qualified for subsidies in the form of tax credits. The average tax credit was $319 per month.
Thirty-seven percent of those enrolled — a total of 68,792 people — are under the age of 35.
The department said 108,041 of those with federal marketplace coverage, about 58 percent, are new enrollees who did not have marketplace coverage as of Nov. 14.
