MIAMI — A South Florida music teacher lost his job after being accused of having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student.
Miami-Dade police arrested the 28-year-old Palmetto High School teacher Friday and he spent the night in jail. He was released on a $75,000 bond Saturday. School administrators say he's no longer employed by the school system.
Detective Alvaro Zabaleta told the Miami Herald (http://hrld.us/18Bar5z ) the teen told police the two had sexual relations between September 2014 and last week. At some point the teen's parents became concerned but it wasn't certain how police were notified. She told police they "grew feelings for each other" over time.
Best spent two years at the school.
He's charged with 10 counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor. His phone number was disconnected.
