LOS ANGELES — A kidnapping suspect has been arrested after a shootout that ended with him bleeding on a South Los Angeles porch for nearly 90 minutes.
Wearing a blood-soaked T-shirt, the man finally lay down in the street and surrendered around 7 p.m. Friday.
There's no word on his condition.
Authorities say he forced his wife into a car at gunpoint on Sunday in Paramount and drove off. She later managed to escape.
County sheriff's deputies spotted his SUV in Los Angeles shortly before 5:30 p.m.
After a brief chase, the man stopped and got out. TV reports showed him shouting and shooting at deputies who fired back, hitting him in the chest.
He holed up on a nearby porch. Deputies sealed the area, evacuated the home and finally arrested him.
