GREENVILLE, North Carolina — The Greenville laboratory that conserves the artifacts from Blackbeard's flagship is holding an open house.

The Queen Anne's Revenge Conservation Laboratory is holding the open house Saturday. Artifacts on view from the flagship, Queen Anne's Revenge, will include cannons, gold dust, navigational instruments. Conservators and archaeologists will explain the use of each prized object.

Included among the cannons is the one just raised in October.

The lab is located on East Carolina University's West Research Campus, about 10 miles west of the main campus.

The Queen Anne's Revenge ran aground in Beaufort in June 1718 and was discovered in November 1996.

Tens of thousands of artifacts have been recovered.
