UTICA, New York — A 40-year-old man faces murder charges in the stabbing of a 19-year-old in Utica.
Police say Pablo Contreras of Utica is accused of stabbing 19-year-old Eugenio Correa of Philadelphia. The victim was found lying unconscious on a city street around 3 a.m. Sunday. Contreras was found walking a short distance away.
The Utica Observer-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1o4mXjC ) reports that Correa was in the city to visit his girlfriend. It was the city's fourth homicide this year. Two have been stabbings.
Utica Police Chief Mark Williams says the victim and suspect knew each other. He characterized the incident as a crime of passion.
It could not be determined if Contreras has a lawyer.
