MCHENRY, Maryland — Maryland State Police say a man was killed and another was hurt when the pickup truck they were in hit a tree in McHenry.

It happened about 10:45 p.m. Thursday on Mosser Road, troopers said in a news release. Police say a pickup driven by 21-year-old Levi Slovak of Accident left the road, hit an embankment, went back across the road and h it a tree.

Investigators say Slovak was taken to a hospital, where he died. Troopers say a passenger, 21-year-old Cody Rodeheaver of Accident, was taken to a hospital.

Police say a preliminary investigation indicates that speed, icy roads and alcohol may be factors in the crash.
