PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island — A grand jury has indicted a Providence man on murder and other charges connected to a drive-by shooting that killed a 20-year-old man and injured a teenage girl.

Twenty-one-year-old Juan Ranero was indicted Friday by a Providence County grand jury.

Prosecutors say Ranero was driving a car in Providence in May last year when his passenger, 18-year-old Joseph Taylor, fired a 9 mm handgun at passengers in another car.

Police say the shooting killed 20-year-old Davon Taylor, who wasn't related to Joseph Taylor, and injured Davon Taylor's 15-year-old sister, Destiny.

Joseph Taylor pleaded guilty March 31 to being the shooter in the incident. He was sentenced to life in prison plus 20 years for weapons charges.

Ranero is scheduled to be arraigned April 15 in Providence Superior Court.
