FORT JACKSON, South Carolina — The commander of the Army's largest training installation is being promoted to the rank of a major general.
Friday's promotion ceremony for Brig. Gen. Roger Cloutier is hosted by Maj. Gen. Robert Livingston, the commander of the South Carolina National Guard.
The event presenting Cloutier's second star is being held at Fort Jackson's club for noncommissioned officers.
Cloutier assumed command of Fort Jackson on May 29 after serving as the director of Army Force Management in Washington.
About 54 percent of all soldiers and 61 percent of its female soldiers go through training each year at Fort Jackson. Some 45,000 soldiers graduate from basic combat training every year.
