ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico — Police in Albuquerque are investigating a shooting in front of a restaurant parking lot that left one man dead.

Police say officers responded to reports of a shooting outside a Village Inn in northwest Albuquerque around 11:20 p.m. Saturday.

Police spokesman Simon Drobik says police arrived and found 49-year-old Daniel Nieto with several gunshot wounds.

He was immediately taken to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Drobik says investigators are searching for a teal green or bluish grey SUV that is possibly a Nissan Rogue or an Acura MDX.

The vehicle has a New Mexico license plate with a yellow background and was seen fleeing the scene.
