CHEYENNE, Wyoming — A judge has sentenced a Cheyenne man to 75 years to life in prison for shooting his estranged wife in front of their 10-year-old daughter.

Thirty-one-year-old Christopher Town pleaded guilty to the second-degree murder last October of 29-year-old Crystal Town.

Crystal Town had gone to her former home to pick up their daughter. Evidence submitted just before Judge Steven Sharpe sentenced Christopher Town on Monday included video footage from a surveillance camera Town had at his home.

The Wyoming Tribune Eagle reports ( the video showed Crystal Town entering the home and her daughter running out in obvious distress soon after. Police say the girl had just witnessed her mother's murder.

In court, Christopher Town apologized to relatives of Crystal Town, who said they were very happy with the sentence.
