Three-car crash kills 4-year-old on Phoenix-area highway; 2 others sent to hospital

PHOENIX — The Arizona Republic reports (http://bit.ly/1KWPu6h) that a three-car collision Friday night on Loop 101 in north Phoenix left a 4-year-old child dead and sent two others to the hospital, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

DPS spokesman Tim Case says the crash shut down two westbound lanes and the freeway off-ramp at Cave Creek Road just after 8 p.m.

Case says the child was killed after the vehicle was rear-ended, sending it into the rear end of a third car.
