GRANTS PASS, Oregon — Manslaughter charges have been filed against a Grants Pass man accused of leaving the scene of a crash that killed his two passengers.

Oregon State Police Lt. Steve Mitchell says 43-year-old Gabriel Lovell was arrested Friday and booked into the Josephine County Jail.

The crash happened two weeks ago, when a Ford pickup sideswiped a parked tractor-trailer in Grants Pass.

Police say Lovell was behind the wheel of the Ford and ran from the scene. Emergency responders found his two passengers deceased: 36-year-old Jeremy Pearson of Ashland and 32-year-old Megan Becklund of Grants Pass.

Besides manslaughter, Lovell was charged with failing to perform the duties of a driver to injured persons.
