COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa — The sexual abuse trial of a former Council Bluffs doctor has been set for next month.

The Daily Nonpareil reports (http://bit.ly/1t6LgAq) that trial for 69-year-old Dennis Jones has been set for Aug. 19.

Jones is charged in Pottawattamie County District Court with sexual abuse, accused of inappropriately touching a 5-year-old girl. He faced up to 50 years in prison if he's convicted.

Jones pleaded guilty in May to a federal charge of possession of child pornography. As part of a deal with federal prosecutors, he agreed to permanently surrender his medical license, which he did last month. He's set to be sentenced in that case on Aug. 15.

Authorities say they found about 1.2 million images and 9,300 videos of child pornography during a search of Jones' home.
