Phoenix police officer accused of assaulting his wife in domestic incident

PHOENIX — A Phoenix police officer has been placed on administrative leave after he was arrested and accused of assaulting his wife by strangulation.

Police say 47-year-old Richard Robert Bruce Tucker was arrested Wednesday after police interviewed his wife following a 911 call that morning.

Tucker was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault and criminal damage. He did not have an attorney when he appeared before a judge Thursday.

Police said Tucker has been with the Police Department for just over one year, working as a patrol officer.
