ANNISTON, Alabama — A man has been sentenced in the death of a woman who disappeared in 2009.

AL.com reports (http://bit.ly/1FoHGXv ) 55-year-old Jimmy Ray Steed of Piedmont was sentenced Tuesday to 75 years in the death of Carla Michelle Fuqua. Steed also pleaded guilty to drug possession charges and was sentenced to an additional 30 years.

Fuqua went missing in October 2009 and investigators in December 2012 found her body in a wooded area. Fuqua was identified through dental records. Steed pleaded guilty in her death in December.

Investigators have said one of Fuqua's friends reported that she had been dropped off at Steed's house before she disappeared, but Steed denied meeting with her. Authorities have also said Fuqua's roommate was charged with fraudulently using her credit card after she disappeared.
