SPARTANBURG, South Carolina — A man has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for shooting a man to death in 2013 in Spartanburg.

Prosecutor Barry Barnette says that 35-year-old Eric Lamont Owens was sentenced Wednesday after being found guilty of murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Owens was arrested in March 2014. Authorities said he shot 31-year-old Stanley Earl Jones with a shotgun during a November 2013 drive-by after an argument about a woman.

Owens was one of four people charged in connection to the shooting. One has pleaded guilty, and charges are still pending against two others.
