AUBURN HILLS, Michigan — A 68-year-old Michigan man has been arrested in connection to a fatal hit-and-run.

Angelo Diangelo of Royal Oak was charged Monday with failure to stop at the scene of an accident causing death in Auburn Hills on June 28.

Police say 55-year-old Ernest Carter of Belleville died after Diangelo's car hit him on a highway. They say Carter had pulled over to check taillights on the tractor-trailer he was driving.

They say Diangelo left without reporting the collision.

Investigators determined the car that hit him was a silver 2013 Ford Focus. Diangelo brought his car to a Troy dealership on Friday. Workers there contacted police.

Diangelo was released on $25,000 bond pending a preliminary examination. It wasn't immediately clear if he has an attorney.
