LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas — The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for much of central and western Arkansas after an early morning downpour.

Meteorologist Jeff Hood says portions of western Arkansas received between 3 and 6 inches of rain over a period of a few hours Wednesday morning. He says The Little Rock area has received 1 or 2 inches of rain and could see as much as 4 inches.

Stalled and stuck vehicles were reported in the affected areas. A state department of emergency management spokesman said early Wednesday that no injuries had been reported.

KHOG-TV reports a Lavaca apartment complex was evacuated after it filled with 3 inches of water and that flooding closed Talihina schools on Wednesday.

Hood says much of the rainfall should clear up by mid-morning.
