12 West Virginia teachers receive Arch Coal Foundation awards

CHARLESTON, West Virginia — Twelve West Virginia teachers have been honored for their classroom contributions.

The Arch Coal Foundation announced the annual awards Monday at the Clay Center in Charleston.

Each teacher was presented a trophy, a classroom plaque and a $3,500 cash award.

The recipients are Debbie DeWees of McKinley Elementary School and Lauren McCoy of Madison Elementary School in Parkersburg; Tracy Duncan of Taylor County Middle School; Cindy Evarts of Orchard View Intermediate School and Demi Lewin of Rosemont Elementary School in Martinsburg; Rhonda Foreman of Martinsburg High School; Kelli Jordan of Ona Elementary School; Samantha Murphy of Nicholas County High School; Jessica Salfia of Spring Mills High School; Ashley Shaw of Montcalm Elementary School; Beverly Stern of South Charleston's Ruthlawn Elementary, and Carolyn Thomas of Shenandoah Junction's Wildwood Middle School.
